Christina Ha and Simon Tung, the dynamic duo behind Macaron Parlour Patisserie, are opening their beautiful, brand new shop on Thursday, October 11, 2012!
Their new brick and mortar bakery and coffee shop is located at 111 St. Marks Place in the exciting artisanal food corridor in the East Village. The white white decor paired with the warm timber ceiling beams creates a cozy spot for reading, meeting and tweeting. You cannot miss the brightly colored macarons in the front display case, and they have added buttery croissants, pastries and cookies to the mix. I am sure they will continue to invent new macaron flavors and other tasty treats for us in their bright, shiny kitchen.
The part I love best is their story, a quintessential market success. I first met Christina and Simon when they started selling macarons at the Old Can Factory Makers Market and Hester Street Fair in 2010. They moved into Mad. Sq. Eats, a major seasonal foodie market, and the huge Union Square Holiday Market. They have continued to connect with customers and fans by providing consistently perfect macarons, both classic (pistachio, vanilla, salt caramel) and inventive (red velvet, s’mores, candied bacon with maple cream cheese), and by clearly loving what they do. Recently married, they also clearly love each other.
