Oak Grove Plantation is ablaze with fall colors in the Union Square Greenmarket these days! They always have an impressive array of hot peppers. I watched as ABC Kitchen Chef Dan Kluger emptied buckets and buckets of their peppers into his shopping bags for the restaurant. The photo features hot poblano-wax peppers, ancho chilis and mild jalepeños. Oak Grove also has an amazing variety of pumpkins and gourds that make me want to make soups and pies all day long: acorn squash, edible miniature pumpkins, sweet sugar pumpkins, acorn squash and more.
Oak Grove Plantation is an historic farm dating back to the 1700′s in Hunterdon County, NJ. Ted and Susan Blew have owned the farm since 1977, and they turned it into a 160 acre organic farm. They have big plans for the farm, including adding more land, establishing an equine center and opening the farm to the public for important events like pumpkin picking.
Check out Oak Grove Plantation on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Union Square Greenmarket!
Now that the fall weather has definitely arrived, here are my Weekend Market Picks!
