Welcome to the first Markets of New York City Holiday Gift List!
Obviously, I had to start with the I ♥ New York Gift List:
Adornments NYC’s New York Subway Token Necklace, from the Etsy Street New York Team. This hilarious necklace combines a genuine, nostalgic NYC subway token with a charm of one of our local subway rats of unusual size. (Fortunately, these ones are tiny.) (Photo by AdornmentsNYC.etsy.com)
Bugged Out New York’s I ♥ NY Roach Tote at the Lil’ New York Booth in the Columbus Circle Holiday Market. Another New York denizen, this sweet, smiling roach almost makes you not want to squish him. Almost. (Image from BuggedOut.Etsy.com)
By Brooklyn’s New York Chocolate Lovers Gift Box in the shop and online. This lovely gift box includes chocolates and sweets from some of Brooklyn’s finest confectioners, including The Good Batch, Raaka Chocolates, Liddabit Sweets, Fine & Raw Chocolates, and Rescue Chocolate. These treats are available in the holiday markets from the makers, or you can get them all in one sweet gift box! (Image from ByBrooklyn.com)
Chelsea Market Baskets’ “Chelsea Market Bounty.”, at Chelsea Market. Whoever receives this monstrous basket had better be your best friend or client ever. It is filled with treats from the bakeries and food shops inside the market, as well as imported delicacies. (Image from ChelseaMarketBaskets.com)
CityBitz New York Photo Flasks at the Union Square Holiday Market . These flasks come in sizes from a single shot to one that holds an entire 750 ml of your favorite hootch. Never get caught without a stylish nip!
John Conn 1980′s Subway Photography at the Holiday Shops at Bryant Park and the Union Square Holiday Market. Conn, a professional photographer, road the scary subways of the 1980′s armed only with his camera. You can get them as prints or on t-shirts and caps. Aren’t we just a little nostalgic for a time when things were just a little bit dangerous in this town? (Look closely at this image. Do you see the knife now?)
LinePosters New York Subway Graphic Poster at the Columbus Circle Holiday Market, Brooklyn Night Bazaar and the Independent Designer Pop Shop. The New York Subway can actually be beautiful! Here is the entire subway system as only a graphic designer and an engineer can see it. They have many other city subways too, but clearly ours is the most picturesque.
Pamela Barsky Hand Printed Bags at the Union Square Holiday Market and the Independent Designer Pop Shop. If you’re going to stand around Pam Barsky’s booth and laugh, you have to buy the bag that made you laugh the hardest. Her New York bags are for people who really, deeply love our city. Nobody else deserves them.
Shaya NYC’s Limited Edition Brooklyn Earrings at the Union Square Holiday Marketand the Columbus Circle Holiday Market. These beautiful earrings are hand hammered sterling silver with a splash of 14K gold. They’re unique and just a bit flashy, just like Brooklyn. (Image from ShayaNYC.com
She Hit Pause Studios Coney Island Polaroid Transfers at the Brooklyn Flea’s Gifted Holiday Market. Photographer Matt Schwartz has captured the beauty of Coney Island in his dreamy watercolor-like images of the vintage rides, like the beloved Cyclone roller coaster. Soxeteer’s New York Theme Socks at the Union Square Holiday Market. Soxeteer is the go-to market vendor for the greatest collection of novelty socks, including these ones with New York icons. I can’t get over the hot dog vendor socks.
Vernakular Photo Design Wallets at the Columbus Circle Holiday Market and the Independent Designer Pop Shop. These wallets feature images of distinctly New York details. And the longer you use your wallet, the softer it gets without losing the image!
Happy Holiday Shopping!
