Weekend Market Picks, October 6 & 7, 2012 + Van Houten Farms

Seriously – what’s fall without pumpkins? I visited the Greenmarket on Friday, and I fell in love with every single pumpkin and gourd, in all their round, orange, green, and yellow glory. Some of them are lumpy and bumpy, and I love them too. And then I spotted this tiny gem under the Van Houten Farms tent.

It is call it a Pokemon Pumpkin, and someone took the time to turn it into a beautiful, tiny centerpiece for a weekend dinner party, or simply something to brighten up your desk or your kitchen. Van Houten Farms, in Orangeburg, New York, has been growing plants, fruits and vegetables for over 60 years. Visit them year round every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at the Union Square Greenmarket.
