More Mother’s Day: Gorgeous Objects from Junk Lab

Vintage Lab Glass from Junk Lab at Springle Pop Up

Sculptor and visionary Steve Thompson of Junk Lab Design makes beautiful things out of castoffs and other random objects. His ephemeral boutique at the Springle Pop Up features magical tableaux of colorful birds under glass domes, live plants, ceramic birds and tableware, and even vintage laboratory glass.

Steve’s sculptures are whimsical and wonderful too, and often practical. The grandfather clock featured below has a fascinating story behind every piece of it. (Can you find the stop sign, the antique bug spray can, or the old surveyor’s pole? Ask Steve.)

Steve’s skill and imagination match up with his use of recycled materials to create a lovely, cozy world in his pop up shop and in your home.

The Springle artisan market is brought to us by the team behind the Jingle Holiday Market. Junk Lab and 20 other equally brilliant shops are open at Springle through Sunday this week at Chelsea Market. Pop by and pick up something gorgeous for Mother’s Day!
