Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Catnip?

Fresh herbs. There’s nothing quite as aromatic. Right now in the farmers markets across the city, you can pick up beautiful, fragrant and unusual herbs to play with in your kitchen. I found this group from Keith’s Farm at the Union Square Greenmarket over the weekend.

It turns out that there are lot of recipes that call for catnip, and not just kitty treats. My favorite one was for a relaxing Catnip Tea from The Herb Gardener. According to this blog, catnip is a natural sedative. If I recall correctly, my kitty got mellow until I tried to distance him from his catnip. It was the only time he’d ever growl.

So I’ll try it. I’ll let you know if I get sleepy or grumpy. Or both. See below:
