Peaches from Kernan Farms
Peaches are my very favorite summer fruit. And today, I snagged my first ones of the season from Kernan Farms at the Union Square Greenmarket!
For early peaches, these ones are sweet and tender. That bodes well for the entire season. There is nothing like biting into a fresh, plump peach, the kind with juice that runs down your arm to your elbow. The timing is perfect for the 4th of July!
James makes an amazing peach pie, but frankly, I can rarely leave peaches uneaten long enough for them to be turned into a pie.
All the Saturday GrowNYC Greenmarkets are open on July 4th! (Thank you, farmers!) So go ahead and start feasting on peaches for the summer.
