NY Handmade Collective’s (NYHC) second edition of “READY SET SUMMER” puts a focus on recycled/sustainable one-of-a-kind artisanal crafts.
READY SET SUMMER, a unique, pop-up shopping experience and collaboration between NY Handmade Collective (NYHC) and Grand Bazaar NYC will kick off summer on Sunday, May 6th from 10:00 am – 5:30 at 100 West 77th Street and Columbus Avenue in Manhattan.
Shoppers will find a diverse selection of exceptional merchandise from nearly 40 vendors, including moleskin journals and notebooks featuring hand-drawn treasure maps with an ancient feel, and meticulously embellished, three-dimensional, vintage-style collage cards. Handcrafted, oil tanned and vegetable tanned leather items put an emphasis on craftsmanship. Fabulous fabrics and vintage trims are worked into hair accessories and fascinators. Ceramics play with color and organic forms. Amazing skincare products are natural, pure and organic.
NY Handmade Collective also takes great pride in our eco-friendly ,sustainable artisans and has chosen to highlight some of the outstanding items. “As April 22nd, Earth Day, is a short memory away it reminds us of the importance to shop brands throughout the year that do not contribute to water contamination or energy waste. We hope visitors will find ways to incorporate more environmentally friendly products in their everyday lives”, said Sandrine Valentine, Events Director for NY Handmade Collective.

Azsai, an emerging zero waste clothing brand is focused on limited edition capsules made with high quality locally/ethically sourced materials, repurposed fabrics and remnants.Entrechat Dance features a lovely assortment of lace ballet skirts, ballet shoe bags, and hair accessories-all handmade with laces sourced from a 6th generation lace house and ribbons woven in the USA. All designs are vegan and do not contain any animal products-no fur, feathers, leather, silk or wool.

Childrens wear, kitchen linens, pillows and tote bags with cheerful patterns in bright colors from Titiluli are hand screen printed using high quality water- based, nontoxic inks. Named after the 1937 Singer sewing machine or “la máquina” used to create her collection, Maquina37 believes representation builds a child’s sense of identity with handmade cloth dolls in natural raw cottons that celebrate diversity. Patchwork quilts are created using the beautiful left over materials and pair perfectly with the dolls.

VioletRae Recycled Silver Bracelet
Biomorphic abstraction and ergonomic are among the words used to describe the one-of-kind pieces from VioletRae crafted out of recycled silver. Androgynous pieces from Sandrine B. Jewelry are molded from nature, inspired by discarded objects such as leaves and branches collected on NYC walks, sea shells and recycled fishnets collected on overseas travel to her native Corsica, locally cast using upcycled/eco-friendly metals.
