Richard Birkett’s Fabulous Fantasy Clocks

Writer: Karen SeigerKaren Seiger

Fantasy Clocks is a Featured Artisan at Brooklyn Craft Central’s Holiday Market Saturday & Sunday, December 17th & 18th, 2011

Richard Birkett of Fantasy Clocks makes some of the most fun and fascinating timepieces around. He has been making his inventive clocks since being captured by aliens in 1984. Built around a Seiko movement and available in a range of sizes, Fantasy Clocks combine springs, gauges, model planes, postcards and all kinds of mechanical parts into wonderfully unique, kinetic sculptures.

We met Richard and took these photos of his clocks at the Bleecker Street Craft Fair in June, but you might have seen him at Crafts on Columbus or the Washington Square Outdoor Arts Festival as well. Richard is a featured artist at the Brooklyn Craft Central Holiday Market on December 17th and 18th, of which Markets of New York City is a proud sponsor.
