Karen and Caulflower
We were at the Union Square Greenmarket recently, and we found this huge, gorgeous head of cauliflower.
You know that rule about not eating anything that is bigger than your head? I asked James to take this picture to see if this cauliflower was actually bigger than my head. It came pretty close, right?!
No matter – we were going to eat anyway. This one lasted for three meals! We steamed it and served it with butter, the way my mom used to make it. We baked it in the toaster oven with a drizzle of olive oil, a pinch of salt and a touch of red pepper flake. My favorite, though was when James sauteed it in butter and served it over linguine with grated fresh Parmesan.
Cauliflower is a pretty mild vegetable, but it has its own distinct flavor that is delicious on its own as well as paired with many other spices, veggies and proteins.
