What is heaven on earth? Watching your own dozen donuts get made right before your eyes and popping them in your mouth as you wander off into bliss, that’s what. Come meet Todd Jones, founder and owner of Cuzin’s Duzin, makers of the most adorable, munchable, bite-sized donuts-made-to-order, this Sunday at the Grub Street Food Festival, sponsored by the Hester Street Fair and New York Magazine!
As you can see in this video, Cuzin’s Duzin has the coolest donut-making machine, which is almost as much fun as eating the hot, sugar coated donuts that it makes. This magical contraption is designed to be portable, and Todd can bring it to your Halloween parties, weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, birthday parties, and even to your office if you want to make your employees really happy. Way better than a pony!
Todd can make donuts in a variety of flavors, including strawberry, chocolate and cinnamon, and he has been known to spice them up with a dash of Hennessy or Cyroc for the grown-ups in the room.
“Have donuts. Will travel.” That’s Todd’s motto, and it is proving to be prophetic. He has been making donuts for 40 years now, and as usual, experience makes all the difference in the quality of his donuts. Cuzin’s Duzin had a great space at the Dekalb Market, and Todd was sad to see it close. However, he has regrouped and told me about some incredibly exciting plans in the works. It’s too early to reveal them, but when the time comes, you will be very happy to hear what he has in store for us. In the meantime, stop by for a sweet treat at Cuzin’s Duzin this Sunday at Grub Street! I’ll be first in line.

Artists & Fleas 3rd Thursdays at Chelsea Market: In addition to their great weekly market in Williamsburg, Artists & Fleas is popping up in Chelsea Market through the holidays. They’re starting a late night shopping and social event on the third Thursday of each month, and tonight is the first one. Let it be known that I cannot be enticed to sing Karaoke. Crafts in Chelsea: The Etsy NY Street Team knows how to put on a wonderful craft fair, and vendor fees for this one go to support art programming for students in PS 11! Meet some of New York’s best artists, designers and crafters selling jewelry, clothing, art, bath and body, photography, ceramics, fashion and home accessories, kids apparel and toys. Plus, bouncy castles and indoor crafts for the kids, baked goods and food vendors. Queens Botanical Garden Farmers Market: The Community Markets organization puts on this sweet farmer and food market outside the Botanical Garden. Crafts On Columbus: This weekend marks the third and final weekend for Crafts on Columbus, bringing together some of my favorite artisans and designers. I spent the afternoon there last Sunday, and it was so great to see people talking with the vendors like old friends. Definitely take your time to stroll and shop at this high-end, well curated artisan and craft market. 10AM – 5:30PM, Columbus Ave. between 77th and 81st St., Manhattan
Fulton Stall Market: If ever there was a place to find a taste of fall, it’s the Fulton Stall Market! It’s just such a great market, and it has everything you want – local foods to nosh on, crafts to buy for yourself your friends and family, and fresh produce. This market sets up under the historic awning of the Fulton Market, which fed New Yorkers starting in 1822 until the Fulton Fish Market there closed in 2005. Grub Street Food Festival: Believe all the hype. Grub Street is phenomenal. I’d say don’t eat anything else after noon on Friday so that you’ll be hungry enough to try everything you see. When you get there, take a lap, figure out the things you want to try and then throw out all your plans and go for the option with the shortest line at the moment. And when you need a break from fressing, go shop for wonderful handmade crafts and designs from the Hester Street Fair! Don’t worry about mixing sweet and savory courses either.
