I ran into Aixa Sobin, the amazing leather artisan I wrote about a while back. She sells her beautiful notebooks, bags, belts, and pencil rolls out on the sidewalk of Spring Street across from Balthazar Bakery (location, location, location). I carry a small notebook I got from her, and it’s seen better days. She sewed it up for me, and it’s as good as new. Aixa’s Etsy store is Luscious Leather NYC.
I also wanted to give a shout out for my friend Cezar Del Valle, New York’s premier theater historian, who will be telling stories and sharing historic photos at the Coney Island Museum on Saturday. You won’t want to miss this event if you love fabulous stories about New York’s most creative people throughout its history.
