Weekend Market Picks June 13 & 14, 2015: It’s Strawberry Season

Sweet, Juicy Strawberries

Sweet, Juicy Strawberries

It’s Strawberry Season! Last year, I waited too long to pick up my supply and almost missed the entire season. (Inconceivable – I know!) So consider this your reminder that we are in the midst of the peak season for these ripe red berries.

It is also peak rhubarb season, which can only mean one thing: strawberry rhubarb pies! Here’s a recipe from a review I did last year of the amazing First Prize Pies cookbook by Allison Kave! Remember: making a pie crust is a form of meditation. So take your time, breath deeply and take time to enjoy the pie making process as much as the pie eating process (which never lasts long enough).
