Weekend Market Picks September 22 & 23, 2012 + Naturally Susan’s Beauty Products

I have tried them, and I absolutely loved the way they made my skin feel. I gave myself a super luxury facial, starting with the Oatmeal Facial Scrub, then on to the Chocolate Facial Mask and finishing up with a tiny bit of the Avocado Lavender Salve, which gave up a noseful of lavender as my skin soaked it up. The scrubs are wonderful exfoliants and moisturizers. Proprietor Susan Ng clearly loves creating her handcrafted products. You can purchase them online and also meet her in person Fridays and Saturdays at the new Chelsea Triangle French Market.

And now for my Weekend Market Picks! There are some fantastic new events this weekend:

Saturday, September 22, 2012

Hester Street Fair Stylist Tent Event: Hard to believe this is the third year for this totally New York event, where over 40 fashion insiders bring designer clothing and accessories under the Hester Street Tents. The brands will include Barney’s, Oak, Surface to Air, Prada and more. I remember the gorgeous, perfect Christian Laboutin patent leather pumps from last year. Oh, those red soles. Get there early! 10AM – 6PM, Hester & Essex Streets, Manhattan

Greenpoint McCarren Park Greenmarket: Bring your puppy to the market! Not only are all the tasty fall goodies coming into season (squash! pumpkins!), but this weekend you can get a sweet fall portrait of your dog! If you get one, post it to my Facebook page! 8:30AM – 3PM, Union Ave btwn Driggs & N 12th Street, Brooklyn

Saturday & Sunday, September 22 & 23, 2012

Artists & Fleas at Chelsea Market: One of the longest running markets in the city, Artists & Fleas in Williamsburg has opened up shop in Chelsea Market again! The large space in the far west corner of Chelsea Market takes on the fun and distinct aesthetic of the ongoing Williamsburg venue. They’re here through the holidays! 10:30AM-7PM inside Chelsea Market at 88 Tenth Avenue at West 15th Street

Mad. Sq. Eats.: Madison Square Eats is also open again for the fall season! Dine from 29 fantastic food purveyors, some of my favorites in the city. Meet your friends for lunch under the cheerful umbrellas , or after work for dinner under the twinkly lights. 11AM – 9PM, Worth Square on the west side of Madison Square Park between Fifth Avenue and Broadway, and 24th and 25th Streets, Manhattan

West Beth West Village Craftacular: The West Beth Home to the  Arts is hosting the very first West Village Craftacular, organized by our friends from the Astoria Market! Enjoy this artisan market and a weekend full of music at the West Beth Music Festival. 12PM – 6PM, 55 Bethune Street, Manhattan

Sunday, September 23, 2012

Lange Eylandt Market: The Lange Eyland Market celebrates the diversity of food and crafts on Long Island and the region. They have a lovely lineup of food vendor, and it looks like a really great venue! You can get there by car or by train. As someone who is fascinated by the Dutch history in this area, I can’t wait to hop on a train to visit this market, which runs through October 28, 2012.  10AM – 4:30PM, Milleridge Inn, 585 North Broadway, Jericho, NY

Sweet Spot Festival: Get up to Harlem for the Sweet Spot Festival, featuring music, dancing, craft artisans and vintage sellers. They are also giving away two tickets to anywhere in the world where Jet Blue flies. 2PM – 7PM, Jackie Robinson Bandshell, 145th St. and Bradhurst Ave., Manhattan

Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS Flea Market and Grand Auction: I can’t believe it’s time again for this market, that is completely unique in the world. Broadway theaters open their closets and sell all the stuff that’s just taking up space: costumes, playbills, props. It’s so exciting to dig through the Broadway’s drawers and closets! Plus tons of autograph sessions (Ed Asner, Harvey Fierstein, Steve Kazee, Jan Maxwell, Bebe Neuwirth, Laura Osnes, Bernadette Peters and more). And don’t miss the Grand Auction to bid on show tickets, memorabilia, and incredible experiences, like LUNCH WITH ANGELA LANSBURY! Yes, it’s that good. Oh – and all proceeds to to help victims of AIDS! 10 AM – 7 PM Times Square, Shubert Alley & West 44th Street, Manhattan
