Weekend Market Picks – August 11-12, 2012 + Ft. Greene Greenmarket

And now for the Weekend Market Picks!

Saturday, August 11, 2012

Greenpoint / McCarren Park Greenmarket: This market is another one of my favorites. The people watching is great too, with old timers from the neighborhoods, lots of kids, and sweet dogs. It’s one of the larger markets, with over 20 sellers during peak season (now). 8AM – 3PM, Union Ave between Driggs & N 12th Street, Brooklyn

Saturday & Sunday, August 11 & 12, 2012:

Antiques Garage: A classic flea market, the Antiques Garage is a fabulous place to find vintage treasures. Decor, designer clothing, historical items, antique prints and books, this market has it all. And it’s indoors, so you don’t have to worry about the weather! 9AM – 5PM, 112 West 25th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues, Manhattan

Dekalb Market: It’s hard to keep up with all the cool events at the Dekalb Market, but suffice it to say that just showing up there is entertainment enough, both day and night. Shop at the unique shipping container boutiques featuring local and handmade products. There is artisanal food aplenty, beer, and great music. Open 7 days a week, 38 Willoughby Street at Flatbush Ave., Brooklyn

Essex Street Market: This food market is of great importance to the local neighborhood, and it is also a foodie destination. Cooks find high quality fresh fish, meats, veggies, cheeses, oils and international ingredients in the shops, plus handmade chocolates, coffee, a juice bar and even a barber shop. 8AM – 7PM Monday – Saturday, Sunday 10AM – 5PM, 120 Essex Street at Delancey Street, Manhattan

Sunday, August 12, 2012

Greenflea: The Greenflea Market is known for its wide and diverse array of vendors. You can find furniture, clothing, jewelry and other objects, handmade, antique and vintage. There is also a good selection of food so you won’t get hungry as you stroll through the multiple aisles. The market takes place outside in the schoolyard and inside in the cafeteria. 10AM to 5:30PM, Columbus Avenue between W. 76th and W. 77th Streets, Manhattan

Also, don’t miss the latest event from the Independent Designer Pop Shop, opening Monday, August 13th through Sunday, August 19th!

See you at the markets!
