During a recent visit to Artists & Fleas in Williamsburg, I was smitten by a golden unicorn. Who wouldn’t be, right? It was perched on the side of a lovely, hand-poured, soy wax candle made by Sarah Cooley of Simply Curated.
Sarah’s charming booth boutique at the vintage and artisan market highlights her eye for color and style. She carefully selects every single item she sells, and her sense of design and color is evident in the way she displays her collections of homeware and tableware. It is a pleasure to talk with Sarah about the items in her shop, and she clearly enjoys finding and selling them to others who will appreciate their unique qualities.
My friend fell in love with a collection of dark blue and gold filigree highball glasses (pictured). She took them home with her, but not to worry! Sarah has many more from which to choose!
Sarah also created a line of candles in beautiful vintage glassware. The unicorn glass probably held a lot of Old Fashioneds in its day. And now it graces my home with style and fragrance as a scented candle with an unusual wooden wick. She has many other designs to choose from, although once they are gone, they are gone. Luckily, Sarah will continue to find vintage glasses with bright colors and intriguing patters for her candles. She also offers candle refills for a mere $10. So once my unicorn burns out her candle, I can bring her back for another one.
