Weekend Market Picks June 1 & 2, 2013: Lunacy Design Nostalgic Tees

Lunacy Design is known for their sweet retro and nostalgic prints and their yummy organic cotton fabrics. This robot tee is printed with non-toxic but glittery ink onto an organic cotton tee shirt. The shirts come in childrens and adult sizes. The designs include owls, rocket ships and birds. You have to see them in real life to appreciate the great design elements. And you have to see them on real kids to appreciate just how awesome they are.

Lunacy Design will be at Crafts in Chelsea on Saturday! Come check them out and buy some soft tees for all the kids in your life, little and big.

Weekend Market Picks

Saturday, June 1, 2013

Crafts in Chelsea:  One of the best handmade artisan markets of the year, Crafts in Chelsea features a full block of amazing jewelry, hats, artwork, soaps and more. It’s a perfect strolling market. One day only! 11AM – 5PM, 21st St. between 8th & 9th Aves., Manhattan

Hester Street Fair: This market is a great destination on the Lower East Side, an artisan, food and flea market all rolled into one. Hang out at picnic tables in the back where you can relax in the shade and enjoy some of New York’s finest artisanal foods before you do some serious damage to your wallet. 10AM – 6PM, Hester St. at the intersection with Essex St., Manhattan

Union Square Greenmarket: I usually like to promote the lesser-known neighborhood farmers markets, but sometimes Union Square is just too packed with great stuff not to talk about it. Asparagus, maybe the last of the ramps if you’re lucky, kale everywhere, fresh mint. And book signing with the fabulous Louisa Shafia, author of The New Persian Kitchen. Don’t miss it! 8AM – 6PM, north and west sides of Union Square, Manhattan

Saturday & Sunday, June 1 & 2, 2013

Fulton Stall Market: The seaport area was badly damage by Hurricane Sandy, and the Fulton Stall Market has been an important part of the neighborhood’s recovery. Check out their wonderful variety of food, produce and artisan vendors and show some love for South Street! 11AM – 5PM, South St. between Fulton and Beekman Sts, across from Pier 17, Manhattan

Hell’s Kitchen Flea: I am actually going to be here incredibly early on Saturday for an interview about things to do early in the mornings in New York. The flea is a good one, because it, along with the Antiques Garage and Annex, is the most classic antique and flea markets around. 9 AM – 5 PM, West 39th Street between 9th & 10th Avenues, Manhattan

SmorgasBar South Street: Speaking of Sandy recovery, the Brooklyn Flea has set up a food, beverage and retail market that is open 7 days a week in the Seaport! Full bar, Flea foods, great shopping–could this be the perfect summer evening hang-out in the city? 11am-10pm, Sunday-Thursday: 11am-11pm, Friday-Saturday: , Front & Fulton Sts., Manhattan

Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit: This is the final weekend of the WSOAE in the Village. I love the quality and diversity of the fine art right there on the sidewalk (read my feature story about participating artist Tracy Silva Barbosa). Enjoy a stroll through this art market, and be prepared to fall in love with art and high end crafts all over again. 12PM – 6PM, University Pl. between East 12th and West 3rd St., Manhattan

Enjoy the weather this weekend — finally!
