Weekend Market Picks June 25 & 26, 2016: Broadway Bites Under Twinkly Lights

Broadway Bites Food Market at Greeley Square

Broadway Bites Food Market at Greeley Square

Summer is under way, and it’s going to be a beautiful weekend! All sunshine, no rain. That means it’s the perfect time to enjoy the city and all the amazing market events this weekend! Happy NYC Pride!

It’s also a great time to meet your friends for lunch, dinner, or drinks at Broadway Bites, the beautiful food village at Greeley Square, brought to us by Urbanspace. Look for the pretty kiosks, filled with local purveyors of amazing international food: Asian street food, Hawaiian fare, Sicilian rice balls, German pretzels, BBQ, Lemonade, tacos, burgers, crepes and a lot more!

Broadway Bites is open daily 11AM – 9PM through July 17th on Broadway between 32nd & 33rd Streets. Don’t worry – the twinkly lights will be back for their Fall event in October!

Weekend Market Picks

Saturday, June 25, 2016

Designers’ Sidewalk Sale: Better Than Jam, the groovy handmade studio and store in Bushwick is hanging outside on Saturday with crafts, fashion, accessories, and jewelry. Shop and chat with neighbors and makers. 4PM – 8PM, Better Than Jam Studio & Store, 20 Grattan Street, Brooklyn

Fair Lady Summer Craftstravaganza: I am so excited for this market under the lovely trees on West 17th Street in Chelsea! It is filled with fine New York handmade artisans and designers, and this year is no different. Plus Samba lessons, a craft table, and Mr. Cory’s Cookies! It’s also a fundraiser for the Museum School, so it’s kid friendly! 11AM – 6PM, The Museum School, West 17th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues, Manhattan

Renegade Craft Fair Pop Up: This is the final weekend for the month-long pop-up of this nationwide craft fair. Meet over 75 extremely clever and talented craft artisans from New York and across the country. Just steps from Smorgasburg food market! 11AM – 7PM,  East River State Park, Brooklyn

Saturday & Sunday, June 25 – 26, 2016

Battery Fair: NEW! I am super excited to see this event on the newly opened Oval in Battery Park. “The Fair will showcase our region’s emerging talents in horticulture, agriculture, food production, and craft and celebrate our region’s biodiversity.” Sounds amazing, right?! 10AM – 6PM, The Battery Oval – Entrance at the corner of Battery Place and State Street, Manhattan

Bushwick Flea Market: This market has become a neighborhood favorite hangout. I’ve found awesome vintage styles, mid-century furniture, handmade crafts, and excellent food innovators. It’s steps from the L train Jefferson Street station. Open Wednesdays too! Jefferson St. stop on the L train. 10AM – 6PM, Corner of Wyckoff Avenue and Willoughby Avenue, Brooklyn

Chelsea Flea and Antiques Market: This market is chock full of amazing vintage and antique objects, from clothing to art to porcelain. I love strolling among the tents and thinking about the thousands of stories that live on when you bring home the items that caught your eye on a market table. $1 admission. 6:30AM – 6PM, Uptown Side of West 25th Street between Broadway and Sixth Avenue, Manhattan

PS 321 Flea: This market has been a part of a Park Slope family weekend for years. Under new management now, it features 25 vendors of flea and vintage clothing, furniture, and other objects, as well as handmade crafts. It is a sweet market, and it is also a fundraiser for PS 321.  10AM – 6PM, 180 7th Avenue, Brooklyn

Sunday, June 26, 2016

79th Street Greenmarket: One of the most picturesque markets in the city, the 79th Street Greenmarket serves the Upper West Side with locally grown produce, baked goods, proteins, plants, flowers, and pretzels. Visit the new Grand Bazaar NYC across the way while you’re there! 9AM – 5PM, Columbus Avenue btwn 77th & 81st Streets, Manhattan

Grand Bazaar NYC: NEW! Let’s give a warm welcome to this great new market on the day of their soft launch! In the old GreenFlea space on the Upper West Side, the Grand Bazaar promises great shopping, tasty nibbles, and loads of creative energy! Come by and check it out. 10AM – 5PM, 100 West 77th Street, Manhattan

Morbid Anatomy Museum Flea Market: One of my favorite events for unique and unusual products and people watching, the Morbid Anatomy Flea is trying out a new location in Williamsburg this weekend.
