I pity the fool who hasn’t searched through the stacks of t-shirts by GoLLyNYC. This Mr. T tee is the handiwork of Artist/Designer Keith Bishop. Keith scours the world for bedsheets featuring some of our favorite characters, from Batman, Spiderman and Superman to Curious George, Big Bird and Pacman. He then cuts out the graphics and applies them to high quality T-shirts and now polo shirts too. These are some unique, awesome, high quailty tees.
The GoLLyNYC collection goes deep and wide into our collective nostalgia. Star Wars is well-represented: Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Storm Troopers and Yoda, of course. You may find Mr. McGoo, Felix the Cat, or Fonzie, as well as McDonaldland Grimace (from what must have been a very strange set of twin bedsheets), Ninja Turtles, GI Joe, and Tinky Winky. See what I mean? The collection changes all the time, so if you find a shirt that tugs at your heartstrings (Care Bears Rainbow? Skeletor?), buy it. Or it too may become a fond memory.

Artists & Fleas Fashion Week in Chelsea Market: This Williamsburg market is back in Manhattan for the season, starting with a collection of fashion and accessories designers for Fashion Week featuring a group of amazingly talented designers. The Fashion Week events runs through Sunday, September 9th. The market in Chelsea resumes in Chelsea Market on Wednesday, September 19th through the holidays. Urbanspace Meatpacking Market: This new market, from the people who bring us the Union Square and Columbus Circle Holiday Markets, is filled with food and artisanal treasures! I spent a long time there on opening day last week, and I loved the mix of sweet and savory local food and the great array of handmade jewelry, accessories, and many other products. It’s a wonderful place to eat a meal or a snack and stroll through the booths before or after you wander along the Highline. Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit: This outdoor, juried fine art and crafts market is open for one more weekend in its 82nd year! Artists have been showing their work on the sidewalks of Greenwich Village since 1931. There is something wonderful about meeting these diverse and talented artists in person, learning about their work, and hearing their stories.
