Weekend Market Picks March 23 & 24, 2013: And Li-Lac Chocolates – A Preview
I recently paid a visit to one of our favorite chocolate companies, Li-Lac Chocolates. I have been frequenting their West Village shop for over a decade. I only recently learned that they have a formidable collection of vintage chocolate molds, which they have been using to make their beautiful chocolate shapes for ages.
I am finishing up editing the story and a video or two of our visit, which I will be publishing shortly. I just wanted to give you a quick preview to get you in the mood for Spring!
Here are the Weekend Market Picks:
Saturday, March 23, 2013
The Real Designer Market: You may know the space at 268 Mulberry. Now it’s time to pay another visit. Several talented designers have taken over management of the market, and they are breathing new life and enthusiasm into the emerging designer community. Support local designers – it’s good for them and great for us! 11AM – 7PM, 268 Mulberry Street, Manhattan
East 67th Street Flea Market: I can’t encourage you enough to visit this classic flea and vintage market, especially as the weather gets better and the outdoor space fills up. There are also several food vendors and two farmers every Saturday. 6AM – 5PM, East 67th Street between 1st and York Avenues, Manhattan
Saturday & Sunday, March 23 & 24, 2013
Nolita Market: Right around the corner from the Real Designer Market is this wonderful outdoor artisan market on Prince Street. Take your time to stroll among these vendors because they are making and selling some pretty great things. 11AM – 7PM, Prince Street between Mulberry and Mott, Manhattan
Sunday, March 24, 2013
Park Slope Winter Farmers Market: This Brooklyn market is managed by Down To Earth Markets, which means that it features a wonderful mix of produce, baked goods and specialty prepared foods. It’s a unique market and an important part of the neighborhood. 10AM – 4PM, 4th Street at 5th Avenue, Brooklyn
Tompkins Square Greenmarket: Right in the heart of the East Village, the Tompkins Square Greenmarket brings fresh regional produce to the neighborhood. Pick up your spring veggies at the market, and then head straight to St. Marks Place or East 7th Street for an amazing lunch in any one of the great eateries there. 8AM – 6PM, Ave A and East 7th Street, Manhattan
Two other important events this weekend:
Coney Island Opening Day: After devastating damage from Hurricane Sandy, Coney Island is open for the season! (Saturday and Sunday)
Veggie Pride Parade: It’s a celebration of vegetarian and vegan lifestyles for most, and for others it’s simply about love for vegetables in general. Give Peas A Chance! (Sunday)
